Permaculture consultation on the Sunshine Coast, in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast
The subtropical heartland grows the fastest food forests on the coast. A suburban block here can carry a surprising amount of canopy and fruit, and two of the route's established gardens are in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

A permaculture consultation is where every garden on the route begins: a paid walk over your land in the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Brisbane and the Gold Coast to read it, understand what you want from it, and agree on the first move. Nothing is designed, quoted or planted before it.
I travel the east coast two to three times a year, so there are plenty of chances to book a consultation and begin a long-term relationship with Food Forest Journey.
Subtropical heartland: what this climate asks for
Warm, wet summers and mild winters, with frost only in a few hinterland pockets. Things grow fast here, and so do the problems: heavy summer rain on clay or on sandy coastal soil, humidity, and fruit fly.
A consultation here looks hard at drainage and soil. Sandy ground needs organic matter and biochar to hold nutrients; clay needs water moved off it and structure built into it. Then it chooses the canopy, because in this climate the canopy decides everything underneath it.
Plants that tend to belong here: Avocado, lychee, mango, citrus and bananas; macadamia, Davidson plum and lemon myrtle, which belong to this part of the coast; turmeric, ginger and sweet potato in the understorey; pigeon pea for shade, nitrogen and mulch. The final list always comes from your site, not from a template.

- Choose the first moveWe agree on the highest-leverage first phase and what your budget could realistically create. The remaining $200 is paid on the day, with no obligation to book a project.
